Enforcement of mining permits by Garfield County and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management

Mining operations at the Mid-Continent Quarry have not complied with county or federal permit requirements for more than a decade.

Because the quarry is on federal public land managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), it is regulated by BLM as well as by Colorado state government and Garfield County.

When Rocky Mountain Industrials (RMI) purchased the quarry operation in 2016 from CalX Minerals, it inherited several non-compliance problems. In the years since, RMI operations have raised more compliance problems.

Follow the links below to learn about compliance issues at RMI’s current quarry operations, and about efforts by Garfield County and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to bring those operations into compliance.
